It was stated on Tuesday that the former soul singer died of a stroke last Sunday as he was found unconscious by the side of a treadmill at his Memphis residence by his family. There has been no autopsy to confirm this but the death certificate and paperwork which was filled out by the family physician Dr. David Kraus has stated a stroke to be the cause of death.
This was down to the reason that Kraus telling the investigators on the scene that he has been treating Isaac Hayes for high blood pressure. His family has stated that he was hospitalised in 2006 for exhaustion which could also relate to the cause of death being a stroke.
There is a memorial service being held on Monday at the Hope Presbyterian Church in Cordova for all his family and friends to pay their respects. This service will start at 11am and go on until 2pm the same day.
Family members stated “While he was an iconic figure to many, to us he was husband, father and friend. We will ever miss his love, wisdom, humour and the familiar comfort of his voice” on Tuesday after the news went global that Isaac Hayes had passed away just days before.
Hayes had been famous for his music, especially the theme to Shaft which won Academy and Grammy awards and many of his TV appearances including the voice for ‘Chef’ in the cartoon comedy South Park.
He had recent plans for a new film called “Soul Men” starring Hayes and other well known actors such as Samuel Jackson and Bernie Mac, who also passed away just the day before Hayes himself.
Last week was one of the hardest in the celebrity industry as these two great men who were idols to many passed away.
