Is he single? FIVE things you didn’t know about Michael Buble…

Michael BubleIf 2009 was all about a singer named Michael, then there’s going to be more of the same in 2010. Grammy-winning singer Michael Buble is at the very peak of his powers right now, emphasised by his mammoth sales of tickets and albums worldwide, and he is expected to become the planet’s most in-demand male solo artist next year.

The Canadian superstar’s popularity has grown even further in the UK following his stunning performance and sincere mentoring on last week’s X-Factor, leading to a Google search frenzy for info on his new album, tour dates, and relationship status!

Well, we’ve done the hard work so you don’t have to; here are the FIVE most important Michael Buble facts you need to know:

1)      Is he single? Is he gay?

USA/No and no – cue the sound of girls’ and boys’ hearts breaking all around the world. Buble has been dating Argentinian actress Luisana Lopilato for nearly a year since meeting her at one of his concerts, and the gay rumours stemmed from one of their first nights out together. Michael said: “I don’t speak Spanish and she had no English. But we were out and one of her guy friends spoke English so I just spoke to him. I was a bit nervous because of how beautiful she was. I later found out she was on the phone to her mother the whole time saying, ‘Bublé’s gay. He’s hitting on my friend!’.”

2)      He’s coming to the UK but how do I get tickets?

Well, the safest and most secure way of securing your tickets – and also cutting out waiting queues and typical ‘sold out’ responses – is to go through Viagogo who have been appointed the Official Premium Ticketing Partner for Live Nation on Michael Bublé’s UK Tour. It’s not often that Michael performs in Britain so don’t miss this opportunity to see the master at work!

3)      How old is he and what did he do before singing?

Bublé was born on September 9, 1975 in Burnaby, Canada to parents Lewis and Amber. Yes, despite looking sickeningly like he’s in his late 20s, he’s actually 34-years-young. His father was a salmon fisherman and Michael worked alongside him for six years, doing shifts which could last from 4.30am to 11pm! He developed his passion for music while listening to tapes of classic hits made by his Italian grandfather when he was out on the boat.

4)      So how did he get his big break?

Aged 18, Michael entered a local talent contest, which he won. However, as he was underage (the limit was 19) he had to give the trophy back! Boooo. Undeterred, he went on to enter the Canadian Youth Talent Search instead, which he won as well, but this time he got to keep his prize.

5)      His wealth derives primarily from his stunning voice…

but Bublé has also raked in the cash behind the camera as well as behind the mic. He’s made numerous cameo roles as an actor and famously appeared on the big screen in Totally Blonde and Duets. He’s also turned up in TV shows Death Game and cult classic The X-Files in 1996.
