When Harry leaves Ginny for her own safety she restarts Dumbledore's Army alongside Neville and Luna, tries to steal the sword of Gryffindor and fought in the Battle of Hogwarts.

When Edward leaves Bella for her own safety she curls up in a fetal position and mopes around until he gets back.

Bella is a terrible role model, and the Twilight books lack a proper plot. They are still readable if you don't expect much, but they shouldn't be compared to Harry Potter. EVER.

Harry Potter wins, no discussion. and it's not, in any ways, for children. actually i believe it has a larger target of readers thatn twilight for the reasons already pointed.
i'm not being unfair. i read the whole hp series and loved it. it's complex and it has a lot to find. wether you like adventure, humor, romamance, fantasy, etc, you'll always find it in hp books.
on the other hand i couldn't manage to read the whole twilight series. i read the books but skipped a lot. it has embarassing dialogues, too long love talks. and i'm a 16 year old teenager. my friends recommended but i just couldn't finish i skipped jacob's parts and edward and bella's cheesy talks. so, in conclusion i must admit i didn't read much. you see, in harry potter the characters are realistic, they have good things and bad things but in twilight you have perfect vampires that sparkle (WTF) an an annoying abusive warewolf. and an insecure and dumb teenager who has no personality and spends her time sticked to her perfect irreal boyfriend. i personally think that bella is a horrible role model to teenage girls. she is weak and gets all depressed when edward isn't around. that's not healthy. in harry potter the main characters have deep personalities and you are able to find how they are while reading the books with their atitudes. harry is not perfect and agreeing with a review i read, hermione is a much better role model than bella. she fights for what she wants, always stands by harry's side and makes sacrifices like risking her life. the biggest sacrifice bella ever does frequently is handling some hours without edward... and she still complains.

I love the Harry Potter series! It's full of magic, adventure, life lessons, friendship, romantic chemistry, and later actual romance. I've never read any of the Twilight Series yet from what I've read from readers who've read the series for me it sounds less appealing. Besides I'm not too key on vampires. I just don't get why some people are so fascinated with them! Sure it's cool that vampires can change shape and live forever (that is if nobody stabs them with a cross) yet isn't that about the only thing that is interesting about them. Honestly the whole neck biting and blood sucking grosses me out!

I own and have read all the HP series as well as the Twilight series, but nothing beats good 'ole Harry Potter. There were so many elements in the Twilight series that annoyed me. Like Bella's hunger for Edward. She literally NEEDS him to be there with her. She's always whining for him. She's damn useless. And to make matters worse, it's in HER perspective so while reading the whole series, I had to bear with her idiotic antics. I know Stephenie Meyer can write well. I can tell she's very good with literature and very descriptive as well (and because of this, Bella's whining gets worse and worse), but too melodramatic for me. No real moral. It's just vampire/wolf battle scene to the next. It got boring. I thought Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" was 5 times better than the Twilight series.

I have read both Harry Potter and Twilight as well as seen the movies for the ones that have been out. I am quite surprised that so many girls flourish to the fact that Bella has a 'hot' boyfriend and she has about three or four guys going after her? They love her because of how perfect she is? I'm sorry to say this but Bella Swan is a Mary-Sue. She gets the'perfect' guy, she cuts off people and then they are happy-not even holding a grudge-when she tells them that she wants to hang out. I'm sorry but this sounds all too cliche to me.
The plotline for both series varies depending on your type of plot. If you like a plot that is like Twilight-Where its only plot is to get a guy, marry him at the age of 18 then get pregnant along with the Volturi that isn't even as terrifying as I thought they were-then Twilight is for you. If You want a plot that is like Harry Potter-where it has so many sub-plots, gets you thinking and depends on the friends around you-then Harry Potter is good for you.
It also strikes me as to how these Twi-hards can't spell, have poor use of grammar and use every nonsense slam they can find. Books are meant to increase your knowledge in English but not downgrade it.
Harry Potter has been around for so long, since about 1997/1998 as well as the movies. If Twilight can continue their success streak then fine but once another film like Twilight-for example, City of Bones. This one is up for negotiation-then Twilight is in for a ride. They need to maintain their streak. Harry Potter has been around longer and look where it's gotten them! Their own themepark, their own collection of Merchandise, etc.

Harry Potter definetly. When I first read HP, I was so connected to it, it has so much depth and devotion. Then Stephanie Meyer wrote that Hell of a book Twilight. I thought I may aswell give it a go because it was recommened by my friend. I read all the books and here's what I got out of it:
1) Bella dates Edward
2) They break up
3) They get back together
4) They have a child
Lesson= don't date werewolves
But in Harry Potter there are so many life leesons and emotions. Take one thing like friendship. In Harry Potter, Harry always sticks with his friends through thick and thin. For example: In the Half-Blood Prince, Romilda Vane says to Harry (when they are on the Hogwarts Express, Harry is sitting with Neval and Luna) that he can come and sit in her compartment.'You don't have to sit with them!' she'd said. But, Harry said that nevaland Luna were his friends and he was sticking with them
But in Twilight, it is an entirely different story. In the first book, bella is sitting with her first friends when Edward walks up to her and says 'Why don't you come and sit with me?' And notlike Harry, Bella ditches her friends and goes of with him!
Bella has a lot of flaws:
-She rides on Edward to school(what, her feet don't work?)
-When Edward isn't at school she goes all depressed and stops eating
-She depends on Edward too much. If Edward didn't exist, Bella would probably be dead.
InTwilight there's only a few groups: nerds vampires and humans.
In HP, theres: Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, Slytherins, gobstones club, charms club, quidditch team, bullies, work-a-holics the Weasleys and so many more.
Sorry it's so long

Okay, listen up "twilight news": ARE YOU INSANE? You think the Harry Potter books are for children? Somebody (YOU!!) obviously didn't even read them yet. I think that only when you read the two series THEN you can judge them. I myself have read them and from my point of view, I think the two commentors before me are completely right. Harry Potter is a far deeper book than Twilight and it will always be that way. Thank God.....
