Track Your calories

One of the easiest ways to mess up a diet is to let your eating habits slip here and there. If you don’t know how many calories you are taking in, then you don’t know how effective your diet is at enabling weight loss. We urge you to count your calories whenever possible. You can even do this when you go out to eat, as many restaurants will have calorie counts on the menu. If they don’t have them in the business, then the counts will be posted online.

There are many apps you can use to keep track of your calories throughout the day, which is great for the mathematically challenged among us.

Establish an Exercise Routine

There are two keys to losing weight- eating right and exercising. You have to get that second one nailed down if you are going to make this weight loss work. Your exercise schedule needs to be manageable for you, though. Lots of people make these lofty goals for their exercise regimen and then get discouraged when they can’t keep up with them. If you don’t exercise regularly right now, then you probably aren’t going to keep up with a routine that makes you exercise strenuously every day. You may not be able to do 50 pull-ups after your first month or something else ridiculous like that.

You need to customise the workout to your needs and ability. If you go overboard, then you will only end up failing and possibly dropping the exercise altogether. Start small and work your way up, if you can. You will get to where you want to be eventually, but only if you don’t overdo it right out of the gate.

Don’t Be Afraid to Get Some Medical Help

Many people who diet and exercise as a way to lose weight are wary about using any medication to help them achieve their goals, but dietary supplements and weight loss pills don’t have to be the unspoken stepchild of weight loss methods. You can use these effectively if you use proven, quality products. Talk to your doctor about some medications that can help control your appetite, making it harder for fat to be retained and easier to get rid of the fat you already have. There are some great supplements out there thatreally work and are safe to use, but you need to consult a professional before you start filling out your medicine cabinet with them.

Be Accountable

One of the surest ways to keep yourself on track with your New Year’s goals for 2018 is to make sure that there is someone you are accountable to for your weight loss. If you keep your goals to yourself as well as your progress, then you are more likely let the goals fall by the wayside and abandon them once you get bored of your new routines or once they become too challenging to keep up with.

If you tell someone about your goals and ask them to help you keep track of how you are doing, then you are more likely to keep up with your weight loss efforts. You need that motivation that comes from accountability, and perhaps you can even find a partner who will try to lose weight with you.
