Strictly Come Dancing often sparks romantic rumours but as it reaches the final stages, what do 600,000 tweets about the series and its contestants reveal?

Betvictor commissioned a study to find out what viewers really think and has offered odds on who is likely to win.

Of those still left in the show, Stacey Dooley is the most popular with Twitter users. 63% of all social posts mentioning her are positive.

Songstress Faye Tozer follows closely behind in second, with 62% positive tweet sentiment.

As the analysis records tweet volume, sentiment and emotion every week.

Before getting the boot in week five, Vick Hope was the most popular contestant, with 68% positive comments on twitter.

Despite comedian Seann Walsh’s dark deeds with his dance partner Katya Jones, he was not the most disliked contestant of the series. Former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts now tops the table with an average of 23% negative tweet sentiment.

But it’s vlogger Joe Sugg who is runaway favourite to win based on the custom social media algorithm.

The betting giant gives Sugg a score of 51.7/ 100 for winning the show – down on last week’s 53.4/100.

While Joe Sugg doesn’t have a particularly high average of positive tweets (57%), he has a very low average of negative tweets (only 7% – one of the lowest in the competition).

Combined with a huge volume of mentions (his name and its variants are mentioned 114% more than the next most talked about contestant Ashley Roberts), the social algorithm has him down as  favourite to win.
