Rihanna will testify against Chris Brown

Rihanna’s lawyer has confirmed she will testify against her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown, if she is subpoenaed to appear in court.

The R&B singer, who is currently fighting two felony charges of assaulting the pop princess, is currently free on $50,000 (£35,700) bail after he was granted a continuance at his arraignment hearing on 5^th March 2009.

Brown is due back in court on April 6^th 2009 where his girlfriend may be called to testify against him by prosecutors, adamant to put the famous singer up to the full extent of the law.

Brown allegedly beat up Rihanna in a late-night row on the 8^th February 2009 which left her face battered and bruised.

The attack allegedly occurred after the 21-year-old singer discovered a three-page text message from his former lover on his mobile phone.

Brown tried to push Rihanna out of the car but failed to do so as she was wearing a seatbelt. He then allegedly punched her and threatened, “I’m going to beat the s*** out of you when we get home. You wait and see!’

It was reported that Rihanna attempted to call her assistant but received her answerphone, were she pretended to tell her to call the police.

The testimony of Detective De Shon Andrews, from Los Angeles Police Department, detail that Brown threw a ‘barrage of punches’ at Rihanna’s face, bit her ear and pressed her neck until she almost passed out.

The attack was reported to have caused Rihanna’s mouth to fill with blood, which splattered all over her clothing. The papers suggest that injured Rihanna managed to free herself by kicking Brown away and gouging his eyes. A passerby called the police after they heard Rihanna’s screams and cries for help.

Recent reports have suggested Rihanna has reconciled with the singer and was in Los Angeles with him. Her lawyer Donald Etra told MTV news, “”She is planning to do everything that the law requires her to do. If she is required to testify, she will do so.” Etra was overheard telling Brown in court on Thursday 5th March that Rihanna ‘would like this to be over as quickly as possible.’

He further went on to tell Us Weekly magazine, “Rhianna desires that it (the case) be quick and expeditious. She wants to get back to her life and her career.”
Brown could face up to four years and eight months in jail if convicted.

Chris Brown reportedly called Rihanna to wish her a happy 21st birthday on the morning of her special day, but Rhianna wasn’t too happy to hear from him and said she had wanted to spend the day without speaking to or about him. 

Rihanna held a private party with friends on her birthday on Friday, but she did not invite Chris, 19, who she has not seen since he was arrested on February 8 for making criminal threats against an unnamed woman.

A source close to Rhianna said: “Chris called Rihanna to wish her a happy birthday. He’s absolutely trying to get back into her good graces. He knows he’s very much in the doghouse right now, and is doing everything he can to show her how sorry he is.”

Rhianna has received a string of birthday gifts from Chris as part of him trying to show her how sorry he is and how much he wants to make things up, these gifts include a diamond bracelet and necklace and an iPod Touch. Chris’ mother, Joyce – who is said to adore Rihanna – apparently sent over a bouquet of flowers to mark her birthday and was sorry that she didn’t get to share her special day with her. 

The insider revealed: “Rihanna so wanted Chris with her on her big day, but obviously realises why they can’t be together right now. But it’s becoming more and more clear that she can’t be without him.”

Rihanna held her casino theme birthday party in a rented house in the Hollywood Hills, with professional croupiers brought in to deal Blackjack 21, and all of her guests are said to of enjoyed gambling throughout the night and even though there was alcohol available Rhianna didn’t choose drinking to celebrate her birthday. She was in a great mood and was really celebrating not just her birthday, but life in general.

After the party Rihanna flew to her native Barbados, where she ended her birthday celebrations with her mother.

Famous rapper Jay-Z has spoken words of support for singer Rihanna, following the alleged attack on her by singer Chris Brown on February 8th 2009, where Chris has reportedly attacked Rhianna after an argument arose between the couple whilst traveling in a car he had rented for the pre-grammy awards party. 

The rapper Jay-Z was quoted as calling Brown a ”walking dead man” after the alleged incident, and has since spoken to numerous people within the press about his support for Rihanna, a protégé of his.

“It’s not a soundbite, this is a real situation,” he said. ”You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that.”

“I just think we should all support her. She’s going through a tough time. You have to realize she’s a young girl, as well. She’s very young.”

Chris Brown released a statement on February 15th in which he said he was ”sorry and saddened” about what happened, and he has also reportedly tried to remove himself for the limelight by going to stay ‘back home’ with his parents until the hype has passed over… but judging off what Jay-Z said, that won’t be for a while yet!

X Factor winner Leona Lewis has denied claims it was a conversation she had with Chris Brown that prompted his alleged row with girlfriend Rihanna, who was reportedly left with serious injuries to her face and bite marks on her body after an incident following a pre-Grammy’s party in LA.

Chris Brown who is known as the 19-year-old RnB singer, has been charged with making threats in connection with the incident which caused the pair to pull out of the Grammys ceremony. Leona was seen talking to the R&B star at the pre-grammy’s do, but Leona’s spokeswoman has said that the row had had nothing to do with Leona and she didn’t spark anything off. 

A source has said: ‘Rihanna saw Chris flirting. He and Leona were laughing and Rihanna saw his hand on the small of her back. It was totally innocent but it set Rihanna off.’

The source added: ‘Leona is very happy with her boyfriend Lou (Al Chamaa) and it was totally innocent on her behalf. There was no flirting.’

It has been claimed that Brown threatened to kill Rihanna during the alleged row that ensued, which was also provoked by Chris receiving a text message from a mystery woman.

Police sources said the Umbrella singer, 20, lost consciousness during the alleged attack in the early hours of Sunday morning, as Brown allegedly choked her and screamed: ‘I’m going to kill you!’, Rihanna apparently came round to find that her 19-year-old boyfriend had fled.

RnB star Chris Brown’s dad has spoken out for the first time about the events which reportedly took place between the singer and his girlfriend Rhianna following the pre-grammy awards, his Dad has said that Chris is very remorseful and the situation has completely disturbed him. 

Chris’s dad, Clinton Brown, who is the 19 year olds father said: “He’s reflecting on this situation, he’s very remorseful. He’s very concerned about the situation and he wants to make sure that Rihanna is okay.”

Chris is under police investigation for allegedly hurting his long-time girlfriend, fellow singer Rihanna early last Sunday morning when a argument broke out between a ‘couple’ traveling together in a car from the awards, which left a female with facial injuries. 

Clinton continued saying: “This is unfortunate, this stumble, this situation, hopefully, he will get past it and his fans will stick by him, we all have our shortcomings. We all trip.”

The star’s dad also added that Chris was “home” although did not specify where that was – “He needed some time to get his thoughts together and regroup,” he added.

RnB singer and song writer Rihanna has cancelled her birthday party following reports that she accused her boyfriend Chris Brown of assault - Chris Brown has surrendered to LA police in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident. 

The identity of the victim has not been released but, according to a police statement, the R&B singer and a woman were in a car in LA when they became involved in argument. The arrest of singer Chris Brown is unexpected and out of character as the 19-year-old singer is known for his wild dance moves, not a wild lifestyle.

Rhianna who shot to fame with her single ‘Umbrella’ was set to celebrate her 21st birthday on February 20 with a huge party in New York but it has now been called off after the rumors which are circling amongst the press at the moment. 

Rhianna’s agents also put a gig on hold which she was supposed to attend in Malaysia today (February 13th) due to the recent events which have taken place involving Rhianna.

Rihanna and Chris Brown had been expected to attend the Grammy Awards but just before the ceremony, a statement was released saying: “We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending tonight’s 51st Annual Grammy Awards. We’re sorry she is unable to join us this evening.”

Rhianna’s rep spoke out about the singer when concern was expressed for her clients welfare, she said: “Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support.” Chris Brown turned himself into the police and was later released on a $50,000 bail.

Chris Brown made his debut in 2005, and his reputation quickly grew as a young, talented RnB singer with hits performed with strong choreography skills complimenting his string of hits. His hit duet “No Air,” with Jordin Sparks, was nominated for a Grammy, but did not win. Brown and Rihanna have been linked for over a year, though they have been reluctant to discuss their relationship. 

Chris Brown’s fanbase appear to be supporting him and are taking a wait-and-see attitude before making their judgment, Rihanna’s are not so optimistic though, posting messages such as, “Send the right message to your fans to leave any boy who would hit you, He does not deserve you. I will never buy another of his CDs regardless.”

Rihanna is so obsessed with boyfriend Chris Brown she can’t let him out of her sight, the famous female RnB singer know for her first single ‘Umbrella’ singer started dating Chris in 2007 and friends claim she is so in love she doesn’t like being parted from him.

A source who is close to Rhianna said: “She has to have Chris around her 24/7. If Chris is with her on a photo shoot and steps away for a second, she starts saying, ‘Where did he go?’

“If Chris isn’t with her, she wants to call and check in every second. She’s crazy about him. Rihanna constantly talks about Chris.”

Rhianna is only 20 years old and who prompted rumours she was engaged to Chris, 19, last month when she was spotted wearing a giant diamond ring – has previously admitted she finds being on her own difficult.

Rhianna said: “My biggest challenge is being away from my family and friends, and all the people I love and I’m used to being around. It’s hard for me to just throw that all away and be by myself.”

When Chris’ performed in recent London concerts it was reported Rihanna banned a host of beautiful female stars from meeting him backstage after his shows as she wasn’t comfortable of happy with him being in those situations, maybe she needs to back off a bit or Chris may end up feeling smothered and she will loose him altogether.
