I am a huge fan of Dancing on Ice and after going to the live tour last year I was back there again at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Saturday 18^th April 2009 for the Bolero Tour.

The lights went down and the professional skaters took to the ice dressed in Victorian costumes of black, white and purple with white masks on. The routine was seamless and captivating to watch. The circular lighting unit in the middle was slowly lowered down and a white drape dropped down to hide what was going on behind. Images flashed across the drape of countries who had taken part in the 1984 Olympics; when the drapes dropped to the ice Torvill and Dean were there in position to start the world famous Bolero routine.

The first half of the show was set out like the TV programme; each celebrity skater danced one of their favourites from the series and the judges marked them out of a possible 6. The panel was made up of Karen, Robin, Ruthie, Nicky and a surprise judge; in my case Salty from Real Radio. Andie Peters hosted the event with Jane and Chris offering their comments. The celebrity skaters were; Kyran Bracken, Todd Carty, Melinda Messenger, Roxanne Pallett, Ray Quinn, Zoe Salmon, Suzanne Shaw, Jessica Taylor and my personal favourite Chris Fountain.

All the celebrity skaters were excellent, with those who were from past series skating to new routines. Todd Carty provided the biggest laugh with his routine of ‘Help’ by the Beatles and even managed to stay on his feet throughout the performance. The technical footwork and lifts by the likes of Ray and Chris were amazing to watch.

During the interval the audience could text with the person they wanted to skate Bolero in the final. Like the TV programme those were added to the judges scores and the top 2 fought it out to be champion of that particular show.

The second half started with a dance by Matt Evers, Dan Whiston and Frankie Poultney. They were amazing and the routine, lifts, footwork -breathtaking. You actually held your breath on some of the lifts wondering how on earth they did it and made it look so easy and seamless to the routine.

After that each of the celebrities skated one more routine and there were two performances from the professionals; Alexandra Schaumann and Lukasz Rozycki and Melanie Lambert and Fred Palascak (my favourite). Both routines were captivating to watch as they glided across the ice in perfect harmony to each other.

At the end the celebrities all came back onto the ice whilst the two finalist were announced; it was Ray and Chris, which I was really happy with as it meant I got to see Chris skate Bolero. They both did fantastic performances; however, the judges voted for Ray to win…..was not happy!!! The finale was an upbeat number with all the professionals, celebrities and Jane and Chris taking to the ice to skate one final performance. The whole show was breathtaking from start to finish and I’ll be going back again next year.

WAG Alex Curran is wife to famous Premiership Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard, and she has shown off her fantastic new figure in a sultry photoshoot after losing half a stone in only three weeks! Alex is known for being a gorgeous blonde bombshell with envious curves, and she put these curves on show in a two-tone outfit and skin bare of any accessories other than wedding and engagement ring. 

Alex’s outfit she wore for the shoot was a tight olive-green top and matching jacket with a form-fitting red skirt, which barely made it halfway to her knees, showing off her toned legs from her recent hard work in the gym, she also usually wears her long blonde hair straight, but for this shoot she had it styled into soft curls and waves. 

Alex said she was determined to stick to her new years resolution to get fit, yet in the past three weeks she has worked extra hard and has managed to shed half a stone in three weeks, Alex said: ’I just wanted to tone up – especially my stomach. I’m happy at the size I am, and being too thin doesn’t suit me. I’m not a fan of the skinny look – I think Angelina Jolie has an amazing face, but she’s gone too thin now.’

She added: ‘I used to be such a party girl, id drink like a fish and stay out until all hours. But now I know that if I have a big night out, I’ll sleep late the next day and will probably eat junk food, I’ve turned down a few nights out already. And now that I’m working out, I’m also too busy to shop.’

Alex said she has also cut down on her spending in the wake of the credit crunch saying: ’l've never bought labels for the sake of it. I buy as many clothes in Topshop and All Saints as I do designer.’

She said she does her own nails, make-up and hair and has cut back on her partying in a bid to both keep fit and save money, maybe even WAG’s are becoming more conscious of spending money now!

Paul Daniels recently leapt to his wife’s defence when unflattering pictures of her in a bikini appeared in the newspapers, and Paul responded by saying she looked better than Madonna. And judging from the couple’s latest pose, the 70-year-old magician has just as high an opinion of himself, as he and Debbie McGee who is 50, stripped off to recreate David and Victoria Beckham’s advertisement for Emporio Armani. 

Debbie McGee made a passable impression of Posh’s pout whilst posing in a polka-dot bra and knickers, but not even a pair of Armani underpants and fake tattoos could help her husband achieve Beckham’s footballer physique. The famous celebrity couple ‘The Beckham’s’ created the original advert for the Italian fashion label which was plastered across billboards and magazine pages when it was released last month. 

Previous to this image, pictures of Paul and Debbie on holiday in the Caribbean were attracting attention for an altogether different reason, Paul was ridiculed for wearing black loafers and pale blue socks on the beach - and his wife was pictured looking more curvaceous than usual, and Paul hit out at these nasty jibes by saying he thought his wife looked better than Madonna. 

This month, Miss McGee put on a top hat and fishnet stockings, mimicking a classic Madonna pose, proving she is more than happy to play up to the cameras.

Celebrity Big Brother star Chantelle Houghton has been criticised for her fake breasts, ‘tango-tan’ and heavy make-up application on BBC Three’s new programme ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid?’ The series, presented by former Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost, is a make-under show that seeks to change the look of heavily made-up people.

Chantelle stood before the computerised Personal Overhaul Device (POD) for her assessment and, at first, was mistaken for glamour model Katie Price. The POD apologised: “Sorry, the massive fake oranges were confusing me. Did the man from Del Monte say yes?” When the Big Brother star argued that she was “golden” rather than orange, the POD quipped: “Like 24 carrots?”

Chantelle responded to the jibes saying: “When I put my makeup on and stuff, I feel like there’s a barrier and I want to see what I do look like all natural.” The POD replied: “You are a fake, plastic, slap addict.”

Chantelle Houghton was the winner of celebrity big brother when she was put into the big brother house as the only non-celebrity in the house back in 2006, after her win on the show she ended the year with her own TV show, biography, and real-life celebrity wedding under her pretty belt, but as most big brother winners, her 15-minutes-of-fame soon came to an end and until now she has been almost unheard of.

Nadya Suleman has recently been the main topic of talk in the media after giving birth to octuplets, i wonder if she was expecting all the good, and bad press, she has received after giving birth to the eight babies - which now means she has fourteen children, and she is a single parent too, now she will have her hands full! Nadya recently gave her first interview, where she seemed very narrow minded about her situation of fourteen children and one parent, and some people are even saying she appears to have an obsession with Angelina Jolie. 

To think that Nadya may have a compulsion to become Angelina Jolie is quite frightening, especially when she is having all these children, it is the lives she is creating that could be affected. It has been speculated that Nadya’s even had plastic surgery on her face - she does sort of resemble Jolie, with the pillowy lips and a similiar nose. - and she evidently likes having lots of kids.  

When this story was first released, most people saw it as a heartwarming situation, a woman who was assumed that would not be able to have children, with the help of IVF treatments has eight babies, but the shock was when we all found out she already had six children made everyone, especially the media look upon the situation as negative. 

Nadya Suleman has a very long, hard road ahead of her, and many will hope her children don’t have to pay the price for that, she says she’s neither irresponsible or selfish, but i think many people will disagree.

Britney Spear’s former manager Sam Lutfi is reportedly suing Britney and her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears. Sam Lufti is taking up a lawsuit on the terms of a breach of contract and defamation - according to documents held at Los Angeles courts. Sam Lutfi is also claiming libel, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. 

“Jamie and Lynne launched a campaign of lies and intimidation designed to destroy Lutfi and drive him out of Britney’s life, this campaign also provided Jamie with the opportunity he needed to obtain an appointment as Britney’s conservator.” 

Additionally, the lawsuit alleges: “Despite seemingly accomplishing their objectives, Jamie and Lynne have nevertheless continued their smear campaign against Lutfi. Thus, having no other alternative, Lutfi brings this action to defend himself against Jamie’s and Lynne’s persistent attacks.”

Britney’s father has recently has had a restraining order put into place against Sam Lutfi, after he accused Lutfi of harassing the Spears family, Jamie Spears and his lawyer who are in charge of over-seeing the singers affairs as co-conservators, have placed allegations that Lufti is working alongside two other men to concert and disrupt with disregard for Britney’s health and well being. 

Sam Lufti is also accusing of Britney’s mum of damaging his reputation in her book, ‘Through the Storm’ in which she makes allegations about Lutfi’s control over her daughter.

Lutfi’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman said in a statement Tuesday that there is “overwhelming evidence from independent witnesses” proving his client’s case and that “at the time of the trial in this action, the jury will have an opportunity to weigh the credibility of the witnesses.”

Self-styled new first lady of fashion Michelle Obama wants her girls - Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7 - to stay grounded and not receive any sort of special treatment as they start their new lives in Washington. The girls were thrilled with a surprise visit from The Jonas Brothers boys, and met Beyonce during the campaign, there will be no more socializing with celebrities.

Mrs. Obama is trying to keep them grounded and wants the girls to settle into their new school - Sidwell Friends School - and have as normal as a life as possible. She is spending a lot of time talking to the girls about the new school and she’s reached out to fellow parents at Sidwell,” added the source.

The Obamas, as well, will not be hiring a nanny to care for the girls, but instead have grandma - Marian Robinson, Michelle’s mum - to look after the girls, whom she adores and dotes on.

And the family’s biggest plus - having dad Barack at home for breakfast and dinner, which was something that usually didn’t happen while he was on the campaign trail. There is no doubt the Obama’s will do a very good job of keeping there children grounded and focused on also being successful in whatever route they may take.

That’s a nice sweater Kate. It looks like she should be wearing it in Taos, not New York City. Poor Kate is always getting ‘papped’, it seems she can’t get away from the cameras and she has spoken out and this recently and how it effects her, it gets her down and she worries that it is only going to get worse as her life goes on, she can never she is coming to an end. 

Kate recently shared her beliefs about the paparazzi by saying, “They’ve become an entity to themselves, but eventually they’ll implode. They’re creating a house of cards that will inevitably fall. These are not nice people. When you’re taking your child to school, and they’re trying to get on school property to get a picture, it literally makes you want to just smack them.”

The paparazzi obviously provide us on a daily basis with photographs of our favorite and most famous celebrities, and we buy the magazines and read the newspapers that provide us with these photographs, hopefully there will come a day when the craziness of paparazzi will wear off, but we will still be able to keep tabs on our favorite stars through websites minus that nasty, unexpected photograph paparazzi’s provide. 

Celebrities appear to be more concerned about being photographs when they become parents, as they do not want their children to become involved with the crazy world of paparazzi that they are in, and i do feel sorry for celebrities who struggle with this on a daily basis like Tom and Katie Cruise.

Britney Spears has two sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, and apparently the 27-year-old singer wants a third baby with him, even thought the pair have had a rocky past and have been split for a while. But now that Kevin has a new girlfriend and is dating Victoria Prince, it’s putting a damper on her future plans.  And Britney has said she’s jealous and furious about Kevin being with someone else and is now more determined than ever to try and get him back, the green-eyed monster has reared it’s ugly head and a sense of ‘wanting what you can’t have’ seems to of hit Britney hard. 

According to close friends, Britney is “angry and jealous” that her baby daddy has a new, younger woman. ”Britney is furious with Kevin,” dishes the insider.  “They were seeing a counselor with the idea of getting back together. When she recently returned from concert performances in Japan, she learned he’d been out with a new blonde.

The pal adds, “Britney asked Kevin why he is seeing this woman - Kevin just shrugged it off, saying he is not married and free to do what he wants.”

This has now ruined her plans to have another baby with Federline, so she’s told him if he doesn’t give her another kid, she’ll just have one with someone else.  Maybe she is talking about having a baby with her new boyfriend. 

But Britney seems to have a plan, she is going to ask Kevin to come with her on her upcoming spring tour. She hopes that by spending lots of time together, it will bring them closer and they can work on their relationship.

Not many men like body hair on women, if fact most find it a complete turn off, but apparently Sacha Baron Cohen isn’t one of those men…
Isla Fisher, the gorgeous Australian actress, recently confessed that she wears a fake moustache when she and Sacha are alone. Isla had said that both she and Sacha believe there is nothing sexier than a handlebar moustache, and that they have a spare one at home that Isla sometimes wears! 

That must make for some interesting if not very strange role-play scenarios, and there little daughter Olive must get very confused when these situations arise, but i personally hope she isn’t around when these ‘events’ take place, then again, she probably just thinks it’s funny. 

Olive won’t have to worry about her mummy coming home with a different look due to plastic surgery. Isla refuses to change her looks and has said she will never have any form of plastic surgery. Not that she needs it of course, she is naturally beautiful. 

Isla said, “Being proud of who we are as people is more important than cutting into ourselves to create this false idea of beauty. I think there is nothing sexier than laughter lines. I haven’t done the white teeth - I haven’t really Americanised my look. But we will see what happens when you interview me in five years. Maybe I’ll be looking permanently surprised, but i very much doubt it!”

So is suppose that means all you need is  laugh lines and a handlebar moustache and your suddenly one of the most attractive people in the world, if only that could work for most of us!
