Jodie torments Shona in Coronation Street tonight, using secret recordings to make her sister question her own sanity in Thursday’s episode, available now on ITVX and YouTube ahead of its ITV1 broadcast.
Jodie torments Shona with Bluetooth speaker trick
The episode opens with David taking Shona out for a romantic lunch in a bid to get their home life back on track. Jodie, however, is not in a generous mood. While the couple are out, she makes sly digs about her sister’s appearance, chipping away at Shona’s confidence before the real scheme even begins.
When the Platts return home and Shona heads inside first, Jodie seizes her moment. She plays a recording of baby Harper’s loud cries through a Bluetooth speaker. Shona panics. David rushes in. And then Jodie quietly hits stop, leaving Shona to wonder whether she imagined the whole thing. It is a calculated attempt to make Shona doubt her own mind, and the question hanging over tonight’s episode is whether it will work.
Jodie torments Shona in a way that is designed to be invisible to everyone around her, which is precisely what makes it so unsettling to watch. David sees nothing amiss. Shona is left isolated with her own confusion.
Bethany takes a chance on Ryan
Elsewhere, Bethany takes a leap of faith and heads out on a date with Ryan. She gets a nudge of encouragement from Kit, who reckons Ryan is a decent sort and tells her to go for it. The evening goes well: Bethany finds herself charmed by Ryan’s funny stories at the Rovers and leans in for a kiss.
Whether things can develop into something more lasting is another matter. Bethany and Kit share a secret that could complicate things considerably down the line, and tonight’s warm ending may not be the whole story.
Ross apologises to Tyrone, then immediately undermines it
Ross offers Tyrone an apology for the offensive remarks he made about men in abusive relationships. Tracy and Ken both weigh in, making clear that Ross has a great deal of making up to do after upsetting his son. It looks, briefly, like progress.
Then Ross gets a moment alone with Tyrone’s son Dorin, and the jibes start again. Whatever Ross said to Tyrone, his behaviour with Dorin makes clear he has not changed his view at all. The apology, it seems, was performance rather than reflection.
Summer’s mixed messages and Asha’s workplace shake-up
Summer goes on a date with Marco, but when she leans in for a kiss and he hurries off, she is left trying to make sense of his mixed messages. It is an awkward evening that raises more questions than it answers.
Asha is dealing with a different kind of uncertainty. She learns she will be seeing much less of Sienna at work after Sienna reported their recent romantic connection. As a result, Sienna will no longer serve as Asha’s mentor. Both women are now navigating the professional fallout from something that was never meant to become complicated.
Glenda spots a star in Susie
The episode rounds off with a lighter storyline involving Susie, who sneakily uses the pub’s social media accounts to post a video of herself dancing and singing. Ben and Maggie are worried about the risks that come with online attention. Glenda, though, sees only opportunity: she gets excited and floats the idea that Susie would be a perfect new recruit for Little Big Shotz.
Thursday’s episode of ITV‘s Coronation Street is available to watch now on ITVX, with its ITV1 broadcast at 8.30pm on weeknights.
