Trigger Point season four has a confirmed premiere date of Sunday, 30 August at 9pm on ITV, with new guest cast details now adding to the anticipation around Vicky McClure’s returning thriller. ITV announced the date via its social channels, and the series arrives less than a year after the third run.
When and where to watch Trigger Point season four
The show kicks off on a Bank Holiday Sunday, which means fans braving the late-night adrenaline have a lie-in to look forward to the next morning. According to Radio Times, a boxset release means all six episodes will be available on ITVX from that same night, so there will be nothing stopping anyone from going straight through.
Seasons one through three are already streaming on ITVX for anyone who wants to catch up before the new run begins.
New threats and new faces in Trigger Point season four
The trailer, released earlier this month, shows McClure’s Lana Washington facing what guest star Julie Graham’s character, Commander Nia Quentin, describes as ‘the biggest terror attack this country’s seen.’ The threat has been billed as ‘unprecedented’, and Radio Times reports that Lana and her team’s latest adversaries are a group of ‘professional mercenaries’, raising the stakes considerably from previous series.
Joining Graham in the guest cast is Jonas Armstrong, according to The Killing Times. The two new additions bring fresh energy to a show that has already built a devoted following over its first three runs.
The returning ensemble includes Eric Shango as Danny, Nabil Elouahabi as Hass, Natalie Simpson as DS Helen Morgan, and Maanuv Thiara as DCI Batra, all back alongside McClure as Lana Washington, leader of a London bomb disposal unit.
What the cast and crew have said
ITV’s Director of Drama, Polly Hill, said in a statement: ‘I’m delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series. I know audiences will be once again on the edge of their seat as Lana and the team take us on another thrilling ride to keep the capital safe.’
McClure herself was equally enthusiastic. ‘I love working with the team, we have a great time making the show and I cannot wait to continue Lana’s journey on Trigger Point,’ she said.
The warmth between cast and crew has clearly carried the production forward at pace. Season three aired in October 2025, making the turnaround to Trigger Point season four notably swift for a drama of this scale.
A record that keeps growing
The show’s commercial case for that swift return is not hard to see. The first three series are said to have reached over 20 million viewers across ITV and ITVX combined, a figure that places it firmly among the broadcaster’s most-watched dramas in recent memory.
Trigger Point season four is not the only major project on McClure’s slate. She has also recently wrapped work on a new run of Line of Duty, meaning fans of her work have plenty to look forward to beyond August.
For now, though, all eyes are on 30 August. With professional mercenaries as the season’s antagonists, a Bank Holiday premiere and every episode landing on ITVX the same night, ITV has given the show every chance to dominate the conversation heading into autumn.
