Tips for Growing Out Your Hair Faster

tips for growing your hair out faster

We’ve all heard that patience is a virtue, but growing out your hair can be one of the biggest waiting games a girl could endure in her beauty routine.

Perhaps you’ve had the chop a few months ago and are missing your long, luscious locks, or perhaps you’re just sick of wearing extensions. Both excuses definitely warrant a sense of impatience when it comes to growing your hair out.

Whilst you can’t exactly gain Rapunzel-like hair over night, there are a few tips which can help your hair to grow faster.

1. Don’t separate split ends

As tempting as it may be, further separating split ends can have damaging effects on your hair’s ability to repair itself; hindering it’s growth and quality in the long run.

It may seem like years have passed since you noticed any length difference in your hair, but ensuring that it is kept in pristine condition allows you to grow healthy, shiny strands (when it finally does happen!).

2. Don’t forget about your scalp!

The scalp is the place in which hair follicles are (the cells that create a strand of hair), so it makes sense to take proper care of them.

This can be done by gently massaging your scalp whilst washing your hair, using the shampoo to stimulate the cells into creating hair.

Treatment masks can also be used to give your scalp an extra bit of dehydration and avoid the chances of damaging follicles.

3. Avoid heat damage (as much as possible)

We all know that using excessive heat on your hair can damage it, but sometimes it truly is necessary. I mean, who wants to go to work with a bed-head that they’re unable to straighten?

However, there are a few ways in which you can reduce heat damage on your hair. These include:

  • Only using heat when necessary – Just got out of the shower? Allow extra time for your hair to dry naturally instead of opting for the hair dryer.
  • Heat protection – In the times when you can’t avoid using the straighteners, heat protection sprays and serums can help to minimise the damage inflicted on your hair.

4. Drink water

Drinking water is a great health benefit that can come from growing out your hair faster and is also the ideal way to promote healthy hair follicles.

You should be drinking the recommended 2 pints of water each day to be enjoying the future benefits to your hair, whilst promoting healthy hair growth.

5. Condition regularly

If you hadn’t already guessed, the best way to grow your hair out is to keep it as healthy as possible. It decreases your chance of thinning due to hairs falling out/snapping, and keeps it in a better overall condition to feel shiny.

When washing your hair, apply conditioner from the mid-lengths to the end to keep it as strong as can be.
